Nicole Solano joined Rutgers University Press in 2018 after a lengthy career with Routledge where she was the publisher for communication studies. Nicole focuses on film studies, media and communication studies, American studies, Latino/a studies, African American studies, comics studies and popular culture. She commissions titles for academics, students and professionals, as well as key trade books for general readers. She is most interested in projects that also tackle issues of inequality and social justice. A few of Nicole’s recent acquisitions include Best Actress: The History of Oscar-Winning Women, I Wonder U: How Prince Went Beyond Race and Back, Music Is Power: Popular Songs, Social Justice, and the Will to Change, and East of East: The Making of Greater El Monte.
