Kathryn Desplanque is assistant professor of 18th- and 19th-Century European Art in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her work specializes in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European visual culture, particularly French and English imagery. She has authored numerous book chapters and has published articles in such journals as Eighteenth-Century Studies, Biblio 17: Voyages, rencontres, échanges au XVIIe siècle, and The Art Bulletin. Her current book project, Papermania, charts the growing popularity of scrap sheets and scrapbooking across France, England, and North America during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
