Mission and History

Founded in 1968, Bucknell University Press extends the reach, influence, and name of Bucknell University globally. A traditional, peer-reviewed scholarly book publisher, we bring out new books in the arts, humanities, and humanistic social sciences each year, contributing to ongoing and emerging discussions in various academic fields. While international in its author base, BUP is vitally connected to various Bucknell institutions through its support of the scholarly ecosystem on campus, fostering both the advancement of Bucknell faculty, as well as the professionalization of students through internships. A member of the Association of University Presses, the Press embodies Bucknell’s strategic commitments to academic excellence and inclusion: it enhances the University’s academic core, and it builds bridges between the University and the national and global communities.
